Most of my work has happened on the side of a business that owners never get to step back from. The calls, the handoffs, the questions that land on one desk after hours.
For more than five years I've worked in operations, and along the way I started writing everything down. Every conversation with an owner, every problem they described and every fix that worked. That became more than 60,000 conversations analyzed and over 2,700 business problems documented.
The pattern was almost always the same. The businesses were good. Marketing worked, clients were happy and revenue was growing. But everything still ran through one person. Hiring didn't fix it. More tools didn't fix it.
What fixed it was a system. Clear owners for every decision, processes that are written down, training people actually finish and someone holding the line when things get busy.
